Scotland’s Colleges, the new body representing the further education sector, is to be headed by an economic development specialist as its first chief executive. Chris Travis, 49, (above) who heads Enterprise North East Trust in Aberdeen, beat off insider competition, including a senior government official and an FE principal, to land the job, which he will take up in early December. Scotland’s Colleges has been formed from the Association of Scotland’s Colleges, the Scottish Further Education Unit, Scotland’s Colleges International and the College Open Learning Exchange Group.
