Mike Kent’s article about a recent visit to his school from a fire safety officer (“Jobsworths get me all fired up”, April 30) recalls a dilemma reported to me last term by a secondary school head.
A fire safety officer insisted that an exit door in the school had to be kept open, but an Ofsted inspector, visiting the following week, said that safeguarding regulations meant that the door should be kept locked. Says it all really.
