We must keep Clause 28

CLAUSE 28 emphatically does not stop schools giving the facts about gay lifestyles. What it does is prevent lessons being used to promote homosexuality. That is a very different matter.

The Mail’s position is plain. We passionately believe in tolerance, respect and equality before the law for all minorities including homosexuls. But we oppose the abolition of Clause 28.

Critics argue the clause is homophobic. But the bitter irony is that schools are already being inundated by explicitly gay “educational” material.

Such education is being offered while Clause 28 is still in place. Imagine what would happen if it were abolished and the floodgates opened.
