A NATIONAL institute for parenting and the family and an enhanced role for grandparents are key features of the Government’s plans for supporting family life. The Green Paper, Supporting Families, aims to stem the rising tide of family breakdowns, divorce and teenage pregnancies. Other proposals include practical advice to parents, enhanced preparation courses for couples about to marry and a new role for health visitors helping young families.
