At the moment children associate cooking at home with constraints, whereas they associate eating out with be-ing with friends and being free.
We are missing a trick - if we only allowed our kids to cook.
Recently we got together 30 primary children who’d never cooked before. We got them cooking things they’d never seen before. They all adored doing it - and ate everything.
We can learn a lot from that. If kids are so enthusiastic, why aren’t we using that enthusiasm? We need to get cooking into schools and to catch them young. If by 12 they were competent cooks, that would be something to be proud of.
