Isolated lectures about the vagaries of eating fried foods and then to serve almost always fried food at lunch is not helpful. A well-planned and inspired curriculum should be a must for all children, boys and girls, in all streams.
In some cases, the new university courses in the hospitality industry do take the subject seriously and the standard of students has risen since it has become a degree option. But curricula too often rely upon theory - not enough practice is required, particularly when it comes to handling food in a business environment.
