England has been in touch with the Scottish Independent Schools Football Association to ask whether Scotland could raise a team for a Scotland v England football match featuring players from independent schools.

There are proposals to hold a trial in September but the match would not take place until next year.

This season has seen the inauguration of a Scottish independent schools cup for senior pupils, which has proved popular. It is planned to stage the competition again next season.
