Peterhead’s hopes of staging the Under-16 Victory Shield match between Scotland and Northern Ireland have been scuppered. The floodlights at Balmoor Stadium are not up to the level required by Sky TV, which broadcasts the games live. The Scottish Schools Football Association is seeking an alternative venue for the November 8 fixture.

Scotland opens its campaign against Wales at Edinburgh’s Tynecastle Stadium on October 3 and faces England away on November 29.

The opening Scottish Secondary School Shields fixtures will be played on September 28. This year will be the 100th anniversary of the Senior Shield as the SSFA marks its centenary.
