Scotland’s under-16 schoolboys squad has been drawn to face Finland, Northern Ireland and Switzerland in its opening pool in the annual Ballymena tournament from May 1-6. The team, which missed out to England in the Victory Shield last term, has a warm-up international away to Holland on April 2.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Independent Schools Football Association has annouced that Michael Casey, the secretary, will step down at the end of the season. Mr Casey, who teaches at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, has been instrumental in starting the independent schools competition.
