Football Phonics doesn’t include “br” for bribe and “dr” for drugs, despite recent headlines. There are three pocket-sized round tins, each containing 52 cards that make up a series of games. Players - either alone or in pairs - have to match football-themed pictures to phonic clues to play the cards in a certain order. If they get it right, the last card in each game is turned over to show a winner’s cup being held aloft. The cards are self-checking, and contain initial and final consonant clusters and a variety of vowel phonemes. Each Football Phonics set costs pound;6.99 from LDA.
