Glasgow City Council has produced a resource pack on asylum seekers and refugees for S3-S4 modern studies pupils, which can also be used for religious and moral education or personal and social education.

The pack is intended to raise awareness of asylum and refugee issues and promote sympathetic responses. Based on the true stories of three pupils at Drumchapel High, it has three elements: the Best Buddies book, an accompanying support unit and the BBC’s Fish Out of Water programme on DVD. It has been written by Colin Castle of the modern studies department at Drumchapel High.

A free copy of the pack is available from Les McLean, adviser in race equality, tel 0141 287 4724, email les.mclean@education.glasgow.gov.uk
