The principal of a Roman Catholic sixth form college at the centre of a row over forced religious worship has quit.
Maria Williams resigned from St Luke’s college in Bexley, south-east London, almost three months after an investigation was launched by the local borough council into claims that the college was “too religious”.
More than 100 students had signed a petition earlier this year protesting at the decision to fly a radical pro-life campaigner from the United States to lecture pupils at the school about Christian family values.
