Forsyth to get boys writing

Thriller writer Frederick Forsyth is the latest secret weapon to be deployed in the battle to get boys to give fiction writing a whirl.

Eastside Community Trust, a London-based charity that sends writers into the capital’s schools, persuaded the bestselling author of Day of the Jackal to act as a mentor to one of the winners of its Write Up Your Street competition. This year 128 boys entered the competition compared to 192 girls. This is higher than last year when only 80 boys entered, compared to 170 girls.
