Bad news for the Scottish Educational Forum which asked the Millennium Commission for Pounds 6 million to support computing in schools. Ian Morris, the consultant and former chief inspector who prepared the bid, was miffed not just because it was rejected but also by the explanation given.

The commission stated that there was “insufficient information on which to establish whether the scheme is in principle financially and technically viable”. This is not the sort of thing you say to a former member of the Inspectorate who got where he used to be by being able to write 10,000 words at the drop of a hat, precisely the extent of his submission to the commission, as it happens.

The forum even has a web site allowing all and sundry to access its “insufficient information”. Judge for yourself on http:dspace.dial.pipex.comtownestatead184
