AFTER his feisty if terse appearance in York last week, shooting down legal threats from the NAHT, an unusually subdued Chris Woodhead arrived in Leeds the next day to face a meeting of the city’s teachers.
He cheered up though as Bobbie Syrett, chair of Leeds Association of Primary Heads, introduced him as “charismatic”. He smiled broadly when she called him “determined”. And he looked downright smug when she said he was “clever”.
Too smug for the formidable Ms Syrett. “Watch it,” she warned him. “In Yorkshire that’s a double edged-sword.”
