How encouraging for teachers near retirement that the Association of Teachers and Lecturers’ pensions officers will be stepping up their campaign for those caught up in the teaching and learning responsibility payments debacle.

Can anyone remind me which unions signed up to the original proposals that have caused so many teachers to be faced with reductions to their pensions?

Similarly, how encouraging for beginner teachers that the NASUWT is campaigning for all (rather than at present just half) final-year students to get jobs when they qualify (NASUWT magazine 49, October 5).

Can anyone remind me which unions signed up to the workforce agreement that allowed schools to appoint unqualified teaching assistants to take classes?
