Ministers have introduced a fast-track Bill to ensure up to 6,500 children do not lose out on free school meals under a loophole in the tax credit system. Families switching from income support or income-based job seekers’

allowance will be allowed to keep their entitlement. The Bill will for the first time extend the entitlement to children of student parents and parents or carers with savings of more than pound;8,000 but on low incomes.
