The Independent Association of Prep Schools agrees that each school should be free to design its own curriculum (“Reclaim your classes: a lesson from Occupy”, Comment, 11 October). Our schools are not bound by a prescribed, centralised curriculum. Clearly, our teachers draw on good quality resources and are keen to learn from others, but we are convinced that by putting our trust in professional judgement we achieve high academic standards and at the same time increase the motivation and job satisfaction of staff.
