This is our last issue of term, which is a great excuse for saying thanks to a whole bunch of people instead of the usual one. Our heroes today are the entire staff - teachers, support assistants, dinner ladies - at Chingford Wall community primary school in the London borough of Waltham Forest Acting head Karen Cresswell sent a heartfelt nomination saying what a “truly fantastic, dedicated and lovely” lot they are and how lucky she’s been these past two terms. Willing hands hae supported her through staff shortages, the floods (when the River Ching burst) and the petrol crisis. Today they welcome back headteacher Sue Notley from maternity leave. But first, a big thank you to everyone.

Please send the name of your Friday Hero - and why he or she should get a bouquet - to Sarah Bayliss, Friday magazine, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX, or email sarah.bayliss@tes.co.uk. Flowers kindly supplied by Marks and Spencer.
