Ruth Moore is a foster parent with three children in Tameside schools, Manchester, the youngest currently at Millbrook primary and nursery in Stalybridge Ruth has been associated with the school for many years as a parent of looked-after children whose behaviour is sometimes very challenging. Her own children are grown up but staff at Millbrook are full of admiration for the commitment and kindness she continues to show. “She supports the school wholeheartedly,” says headteacher Liz Benfield, who nominated her, “making costumes for he school play or helping out at the Christmas fair.” In 1999 Ruth became a school governor and now offers valuable and reassuring advice to parents whose children are in difficulty. “She wants to give every child a chance,” says MsBenfield.
