Pauline Marson is deputy head at Henbury school, Bristol After a devastating Ofsted visit and with no head or deputy to get things moving, Henbury school was at its lowest ebb. But before things began to fall apart Pauline Marson stepped forward to take up the role of acting head. Pauline is now deputy head of the school, and the energy she has put into raising morale has had a huge impact on staff and pupils, says head of art Simone Wells. “She made us all work together to realise that we can make a future here.” As well as developing a real team spirit among the staff, ad setting up support sessions to allow them to discuss problems, she organised a concert for Comic Relief to help cheer up the pupils. “She has been amazing and really inspiring, and if any of the students did a My Best Teacher, she’d the one that everyone would choose,” says Simone.
