Escapes from German prisoner-of-war camps have been the stuff of movie legend, but what was the truth behind all the tunnels and wooden horses? A new exhibition at the Imperial War Museum will tell the amazing but true stories of escape attempts by Allied servicemen in the Second World War.
Interactive displays allow children and adults to try on disguises, forge ID cards and crawl through an escape tunnel. There will be a full-size replica of the Colditz glider and memorabilia of the many war films, TV series and books about the subject. Until next summer. www.iwm.org.uk
