Consultation will get under way in late summer or early autumn on the merger of the further and higher education funding councils, Jim Wallace announced. This will include reviewing the way different types of institution and levels of courses are funded in the whole of tertiary education.
Consultation on a draft Bill would follow by next summer with its introduction in the autumn. The merger is not expected before 2006.
