Funding must grow up

Up to pound;1 billion should be ploughed into learning for older people, delegates at the Liberal Democrat conference heard this week. Ian Searle, chairman of the University of the Third Age, and Tom Schuller, director of the Inquiry into the Future for Lifelong Learning, which reported last week, said that a disproportionate amount of money was spent on educating the under 25s when these were a declining demographic group.
