IN a busy primary, the five teacher-training days provide time for staff to review progress, plan for the future and share ideas. I would be unhappy if the days were dropped (TES, August 17). Inevitably, part of our first training day is used to plan for the coming year and some time is taken up with administrative matters. This is a task which is better done during the day.
Inset leave is an attractive idea but how would the model apply to primary schools with one teacher per class? Would children in the same school have different days off?
