Your article “Computer games and porn forcing kids to be ‘too sexy too soon’” (February 19) started promisingly, telling of a forthcoming report by an actual qualified psychologist.

Too soon, however, did the article fall back to the reactionary, suggesting that Grand Theft Auto was the single biggest threat to the children of this nation - never mind the fact that it carries an 18 certificate. The mention of the game RapeLay conveniently ommitted the fact it was only released in Japan and, again, carries an 18 certificate.

It is one thing to criticise inappropriate merchandise marketed towards children, but surely you see the difference between babies’ bibs and adult computer games?

It is parents who need educating, and should be forced to learn that these games carry age ratings for a reason.
