Port Glasgow’s Lilybank School, which has 53 pupils with special education needs aged between five and 18 years, held a sponsored basketball and football goal-shoot to help raise funds for Scotland’s team for this summer’s Commonwealth Games, which are being held in Manchester.

Schools throughout Scotland have been invited to back the team’s fund-raising efforts by organising sponsored activities.

“We are delighted to be taking part in this initiative,” said headteacher Eileen Stewart. “All participants were asked to bring along pound;1, which will help to ‘share the dream and support the team’ representing Scotland this summer.”
