A 17-year-old Mississippi girl’s photograph was excised from her school yearbook after she insisted on wearing a tuxedo, reports USA Today.

Ceara Sturgis, who is gay, did not want to wear the drape usually worn by girls. She put on a tuxedo for her senior portrait at Wesson Attendance Center in July, but received a letter from the school in August, stating that only boys could dress this way for the yearbook.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi has become involved. It gave Principal Ronald Greer until today to publish Miss Sturgis’s picture before pursuing court action.
