GCSE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY: Food technology trough diagrams. By Hazel King. Oxford University Press. Revision Guide pound;7. Damp;T FOOD TECHNOLOGY GCSE Key Stage 4. By Jill Robertson and Jenny Hotson. Collins Study and Revision Guide. pound;9.99.

These books are packed full of information - in fact it feels as though the font size has been reduced to cram everything in.

The Oxford guide’s diagrams look like commonly used clip-art (all in black and white), but the information is relevant and up-to-date.

It also offers help and advice for students’ coursework preparation and development - useful as a check to ensure relevat components have been covered.

My only real concern, on behalf of the publisher, is that being so photocopy-friendly, it will simply be reproduced for use throughout the class - a real bargain at pound;7.

The Collins study and revision guide offers exam and coursework help in full colour. Comprehensive background information is spliced with coursework examples, exam questions and examiner guidance.

This offers students the opportunity to find out exactly what is expected in the exam or coursework, with the technical information for revision in the same publication. With 250 pages, it is good value.
