Gender stumps teaching career

I WAS recently offered a post on the graduate teacher-training scheme teaching Year 1. The headteacher had expended a lot of time and energy in obtaining the approval of her governors and seeking funding.

The deadline for applications is June 23, and so we were on track.

The head thenreceived a telephone call advising her that funding was being withdrawn because my A-levels were not right and because I am not a man.

Now, in my book that is nothing less than blatant sexual discrimination.
