Plot the location of the summer Olympics since 1896 (see www.olympic.orgukindex_uk.asp). Describe and explain the distribution (PoS 2c). Visit www.nationmaster.com (select “sports” and use the drop-down menus to generate a map showing the top 20 medal-winning countries in Sydney in 2000. Plot the medal winning countries at Athens 2004 and compare with Sydney 2000 (PoS 2f). Visit www.athens2004.com. Draw a sketch map to show the location of the main venues for Athens 2004. Add labels to explain Athens’ transport strategy. Collect news cuttings to see if things work out as planned (PoS 2e). Compare Olympic medals by country at Athens with key indicators, eg GDP, population (see www.cia.govciapublicationsfactbook). Explain your findings (PoS 6i).
