Pupils love to talk, but often dread presentations because they don’t have the confidence to present their point of view. New website www.youthamplified.com has cross-curricular educational resources to help young people speak out about the issues that matter to them.
The website includes a short video, Life is Not a Silent Movie, in which young people explain the importance of good presentation skills. A series of short animations help pupils to develop key communication skills such as confidence, listening, projection, persuasion, negotiation and argumentation.
After an interactive quiz and a target sheet, six short videos feature pupils explaining how they have dealt with debates and public speaking.
Why is it useful?
Speakers’ Corner Trust and the University of Leeds created the site with the Paul Hamlyn Foundation to urge young people to develop their public-speaking skills.
