Passing a newspaper stand this morning, I noticed the headline “School leaving age to be raised to 18”. Can this be true? I’m counting down the lessons until my Christmas leavers go at 16 - I’d have to be institutionalised if these pupils had to be in school until 18. They hate being there as it is, and have no inclination to gain any type of qualification.
