Exercise alone is not enough to counter childhood obesity, a Glasgow University study has found. A regime of 30-minute sessions of activity a week, involving 545 children in 36 city nurseries, made little impact on their body mass index or encouraged them to be more active. Researchers said diet and the “wider environment” were other important factors.
