Even the best careers advice can founder when pupils simply don’t know what they want out of life. Succeed for Yourself is a set of seven 40-minute interactive lessons on DVD that should help students in Years 1213 clarify their goals. The lessons involve quiet thought, discussion with partners, presentations and carefully considered writing, some of which might be done as homework. Activities include imagining a congratulatory speech at a birthday party 10 years in the future and thinking about what would count as unacceptable costs of success. Succeed for Yourself is free to UK secondary schools. Contact the Adam Walker Foundation
