Training in the use of the ContactPoint database began in 17 local authorities in the North West and at two charities, Barnardo’s and KIDS, this week.

The Pounds 224m directory, which has details of every child in England, was a key recommendation of the Laming inquiry into the death of Victoria Climbie in 2000. Almost 400,000 people will have access to the database.
