Teaching is the most popular profession among young women, according to a survey by Girlguiding UK.

Two-thirds of 16- to 25-year-olds are interested in a career in the classroom. But a third thought they had received different careers advice because they were female.

Liz Burnley, chief guide, said: “It’s a valuable insight into issues affecting a generation of girls.”
