With exam results increasing it is surely time to give credit to the flexible workforce of teachers and lecturers who provide short and long-term supply cover.

They make up around 10 per cent of the teaching force. They are real professionals who are able to pick up, often at very short notice and sometimes in quite difficult circumstances, lessons to ensure that pupils and students continue to learn and prepare for their examinations.

We also believe that supply agency professionals such as ourselves are due some credit for our part in the improvements.

Over the years, we have radically modified the way supply teaching operates. Teachers’ skills and experience are matched to the requirements of schools and colleges, and their specialist knowledge and expertise are utilised effectively in placements so that classes are taught professionally.
