WHY doesn’t the Government allow teachers to run the General Teaching Council themselves as other professions do?

Your recent article showed, as an example, that the General Medical Council contains only doctors and the general public, but the GTC only gives teachers a slight majority over these shadowy government appointees.

This, I suggest, is not the way to raise morale, recruitment and improvement in education.
