What does your writing say about you? Graphologist Elaine Quigley explains The large script matches the signature, showing an up-front kind of person. The upright script shows independence, and the arched structure of the middle-zone letters tells of a methodical and thorough approach.

The lines sloping upwards tell of a positive attitude. Even when she feels down, she manages to appear firm and in control.

The style of script is clear but non-committal. She focuses on facts and concrete issues, and leaves the dreaming and vagueness to others. She has hopes and ambitions, but aims to achieve them rather than just think about them.

In essence, this woman is extrovert and active, with a serious approach to work. She seeks material well-being to provide security and, when anxious, can use a sense of humour to deflect problems - although she is careful to look out for possible difficulties before they arise. When the work is done, she likes to relax in the company of good friends. She is an independent decision-maker, but gains from the input of others, as long as they offer advice rather than impose it. It is important for her to be an exper in her chosen field. She likes security, but variety is also vital if she is to feel fulfilled.

Susanna Pinkus is a teacher studying for a PhD in special needs education at Cambridge University That is the most scarily accurate thing I have ever read. All of it is true: I don’t just dream, I am incredibly focused and I have lots of ambitions. I make lists for everything - I have to because I am always doing lots of things. Apart from the PhD and the teaching, I want to be a journalist and get involved in government policy. I am also social secretary of the Cambridge postgraduate club, So I have to prioritise because my life is a whirlwind.

Thank God it said I have a serious approach to work and not “this person is not very good at completing long pieces of writing”. I’ll have to show my supervisor!

Elaine Quigley and Susanna Pinkus were talking to Harvey McGavin. Does someone you know have unusual handwriting?
