Oscar Romero took office as the Archbishop of San Salvador in 1977, when violence and murder were claiming the lives of 3,000 people each month. He became an outspoken defender of the poor but paid the ultimate price and was assassinated while giving Mass in 1980.

A new resource produced by the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund celebrates his life and uses it as a vehicle to improve pupils’ Spanish and help them learn more about global citizenship, life in El Salvador, and the charity’s work.
