Wolf Erlbruch, based in Wuppertal in Germany, and Italian-born Sara Fanelli both have graphics backgrounds and incorporate collage into their artwork, which appeals to child and adult readers. They will be in conversation with critic Nicholas Tucker in a slide-illustrated event arranged by the Marsh Award for Children’s Literature in Translation as a reminder that the biennial award, to be made this year, offers a chance to promote books from outside the UK.
Wolf Erlbruch is probably best known for The Story of the Little Mole Who Knew That It was None of His Business (Chrysalis Books). Sara Fanelli’s books (most recently Pinocchio, pictured) have built a strong UK following since the early 1990s (she won the Macmillan prize for a new children’s illustrator in 1992).
From 7pm, January 15, at Goethe-Institut London, 50 Princes Gate, Exhibition Road, London SW7 2PH. Tickets pound;3. Tel: 020 7596 4000.
