The pony man
Thelwell Country: 70 years of Norman Thelwell brings together thousands of illustrations, landscapes and humorous drawings. The show will be at the Mall Galleries in London later in the year, but opens at the Southampton City Art Gallery for two months from July 4. Information: 023 8083 3333.

Take a bow
Ten children from Northmead junior school, Surrey, will perform a new work for violins by Malcolm Singer in the London Chamber Orchestra’s concert at St John’s, Smith Square, London, on June 20. Tickets: 020 7222 1061.
