Gone with the mail

As the Scottish Office prepares its spending allocations for next year, ministers will be alarmed to learn that they will have to find the money for more than 600 extra Scottish schools.

Hamilton House Mailings, a Northamptonshire-based company that specialises in sending letters to schools all over the country, assures Jotter in an information sheet that any of our advertising materials could be sent to 441 Scottish secondaries, 1,697 primaries and 637 middle schools.

There used to be a handful of middle schools, straddling the upper primary and lower secondary years, in the former Central Region. But they have disappeared. So where are the phantoms?
