Nicola Thornber, a student teacher from Bradford, West Yorkshire, has set up a business with her partner Mark, offering free art competitions to schools, nurseries and scout packs.

To take part in the Mini Me Card Company competitions, children produce artwork on a chosen theme - this quarter the themes are “my mum”, “flower”

and “self portrait”.

Participating artists each receive a greetings card featuring their design.

The winner receives a pack of 20 cards and envelopes, and their school or organisation wins a prize of pound;250. Free information sheets are available.

The cards can be a money spinner for schools too. Parents have the option of buying copies of their child’s card and schools receive a 15 per cent commission on cards sold.

Cost: Competitions are free. Parents can buy cards at pound;9.95 for five, pound;14.95 for 10, and pound;24.95 for 20.
