So farewell then, Gordon Jeyes. Stirling’s head of children’s services is off to look after the weans in Cambridgeshire, as we reported last week.

In a fond tribute, Keith Yates, Stirling Council’s chief executive, noted that Jeyes is a member of the Scottish Executive’s Culture Commission.

“This means he is now into sampling music, theatre and dance with the zest of a teenager by the wisdom of a Morton supporter,” said Yates, mysteriously.
