Gove talks up perks of academy staff

Private healthcare and courses at top universities are among the perks received by teachers at academies, according to Education Secretary Michael Gove. He insisted teachers were getting “a great deal” as he attacked union criticism of his plans to expand the academies programme. But Christine Blower, general secretary of the NUT, said academies were concerned with the “marketisation” of schools.
