TRAINING programmes to sharpen the skills and performance of all college governors will be ready for use within three months, according to the Further Education Development Agency.
The agency is leading a consortium of management advisers and consultants charged with developing packages to train all new governors in skills from the handling of budgets to managing industrial relations.
Commenting on FEDA’s success in winning the pound;96,000 contract, Chris Hughes, chief executive, said the materials would in fact benefit all governors. “Good governance is vital for a successful college. But busy people need an efficient and effective introduction. The materials will provide the skills and knowledge they need.”
