College leaders have urged more people to challenge exam boards over student grades after 24 English A-level students at Hugh Baird College in Lancashire had their results upgraded on appeal. For many, a university place hung on the result.
The Associated Examining Board apologised for the error. But several colleges have expressed concern to The TES over the mounting number of appeals they have to make.
Ken Jackson, head of adult and general studies at Hugh Baird, said: “It fully vindicates the college’s decision to question the grades which we were initially awarded.”
