Russ Law should be careful when criticising Dylan Wiliam’s grammar (“Is we there yet?”, Letters, 19 April). If “teaching and learning” is taken as an indivisible whole, then it is perfectly acceptable to use the singular form of the verb. For example, rhubarb and custard is my favourite dessert and Tom and Jerry is my favourite cartoon.
